Old workings can be a challenge from a number of perspectives. We have scanned old workings where the mine was expecting to break into these from underground and in other cases these old workings would potentially interact with a proposed open pit design.
Interestingly the scanning of these shafts can also give better understanding for geologists who are refining their drill programs and how the ore body undulates and changes direction over a short distance.
